If the trailer lights ground through the mounting hardware make sure that the light mounting area is clean and paint free and that the surface is not made of aluminum.
Toyota 4runner trailer lights not working. Its all enclosed when i try to follow the wires. If that does not help then use a circuit tester such as ptw2991 to test the vehicle side connector while someone sits in the 4runner and runs through the lighting functions. Where is the connector.
Check all three fuses. Is the wiring toyota or aftermarket if after market check for bad crimp connectors. We tested it and it is the truck not the trailer.
After that you need to check the wining at the vehicle. Each fuse is in a different group of fuses. Verify that the bulb in each light is functioning correctly.
If the mounting surface is made of aluminum connect a wire to the light stud and ground it to the trailer frame. There are three different 30 amp fuses for trailer lights in the fuse box under the hood. There is also a trailer light relay.
If the 4 way shows no power then check the wires leading into the converter box. Running lights work on trailer when hooked in but brake and blinkers do not. It could be a broken wire a bad ground or any number of possibilities.
